In the Spring of 2021, fundraisers, donors and STV viewers came together to raise money for children and young people whose mental health had been severely affected by the effects of Covid-19. Over £152,000 was raised and distributed to children’s projects across Scotland so that STV Children’s Appeal was asked to distributed a portion of funding from Scottish Government to help vulnerable families cope with the effects of winter. Funds were used to help people pay for food, heating, warm clothing and shelter.
- 46 projects have received awards to the value of £2,000, which will be used to provide children and young people with opportunities to improve their mental health through counselling sessions, peer support groups and leisure activities.
- 4 projects – based in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Greenock and Perth – all focus specifically on child counselling and have received special funding awards to the value of £15,000 each.
